Down in Dorset the repair of original farmhouse building is progressing under its scaffolding shroud. The green oak frame is now in place.
Having removed the 20thC. roof structure. The horrible cement mortar repairs are not ours – we are making all masonry repairs in lime putty mortar.
Ground Floor, showing the newly installed beams. The floor is a ‘Limecrete’ slab – a low energy, insulating and breathing floor structure formed by a mix of Leca with Hydraulic Lime. Leca (Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate) is a fantastic material with a multitude of uses. A screed incorporating underfloor heating to go on top, finished in reclaimed quarry tiles.
