Big Knight

We sometimes meddle in a little graphic design at Hackett Holland. Here is a design knocked up for little Miss Holland’s forthcoming marriage to Mr Richard Knight. Ho ho!

Where are they now?

Dan worked for Hackett Holland for many years, and it was a sad day for us when he announced his intention to change career.  Apparently – the official story is – he is now an accomplished Personal Trainer.  But look what we just dug up…..

Weekend Fun

Lou from the office came down for a weekend in Dorset with her family.  The sun shone every day and it felt like being on holiday.

Lunch at the Manoir

I recently attended a celebratory lunch at Le Manoir aux Quatre Saisons, courtesy of industry colleagues.  Excellent company, excellent food and what service!  Raymond himself even popped out to make a rousing speech.  The lozenge of horseradish sorbet seen here was the culinary highlight.  A treat, thank you!

Tea in the Garden

Isn’t the weather glorious!?  My garden, a mere field only three seasons ago, is certainly enjoying it.

Notting Hill End of Terrace

There is light at the end of the tunnel at our project at MacGregor Road.  We have collaborated with  Suzy Hoodless  to completely refurbish, extend and remodel this 5 storey house.  After an epic two years, the final items of joinery and the finishes are being installed and are bringing it alive.

New Shower Room tiles

New Hall floors

New Internal French Doors

New joinery in traditional style, primed and ready to install

Reinstated entabulatures and mouldings, new double glazed sash windows

New Rear Extension with triple height Crittal-style windows

Mozambique

We have been asked to be Executive Architects for an exciting new project in Mozambique.  Johnny recently went out on a recce and though the below image is not particularly architectural, it felt good to be back in Africa.

Kings Cross

Have you visited Kings Cross station since it re-opened?  Here is yet another thrilling re-vamp of one of our Victorian stations, combining the old and new to make a station fit for 21st century London.  Which the Brits are so good at.  Not quite as successful as St Pancreas – there were probably more limitations on space and white steel lattice half-dome of the pair of arched sheds, exposing them again in all their monolithic glory.

The ‘funnel’ was arrived at as a solution to supporting the new roof without placing extra load on the original structures.

Smart grey colour scheme for the glazed roof and windows of the original train sheds.
